A group of Effingham community members began to look at the possibility of bringing a multi-sport facility to the city of Effingham |

| The project is expanded as the potential of a unique partnership between the City of Effingham the Park District, the YMCA, private land owners, a professional management committee and the Effingham County Community Foundation was explored |

April 2005 |
The Effingham County Community Foundation votes to underwrite the cost of hiring the firm of Holmes, Radford and Avalon to conduct a feasibility study to prove its ability to raise a $3 million permanent endowment fund to support the sustainability of the proposed sports center. |

September 2005 |
The findings of the feasibility study are reported, and overwhelmingly support the Sports Center project. |

| The Effingham County Community Foundation passes a resolution to establish the permanent Sports Center Endowment Fund, to take a leadership role in coordinating the public fund raising, and to underwrite the costs of conducting the campaign, ensuring that 100% of all contributions will be used solely for the purpose o sustaining the on-going operating costs of the Sports Center. |
