SPORTS CENTER ENDOWMENT FUND

Timeline of the Sports Center Endowment Fund

Early 2005

A group of Effingham community members began
to look at the possibility of bringing a multi-sport
facility to the city of Effingham
The project is expanded as the potential of a
unique partnership between the City of Effingham
the Park District, the YMCA, private land owners, a
professional management committee and the
Effingham County Community Foundation was
explored

April 2005

The Effingham County Community Foundation
votes to underwrite the cost of hiring the firm of
Holmes, Radford and Avalon to conduct a
feasibility study to prove its ability to raise a $3
million permanent endowment fund to support the
sustainability of the proposed sports center.
A steering committee is formed to guide the study
process

September 2005

The findings of the feasibility study are reported,
and overwhelmingly support the Sports Center
project.
    The Effingham County Community Foundation
passes a resolution to establish the permanent
Sports Center Endowment Fund, to take a
leadership role in coordinating the public fund
